Metal-detection romance The Glorious Trufflepigs hikes onto Steam next calendar week

Everybody's Expended to the Rapture lead designer Andrew Crawshaw is returning to the pastoral English countryside next month with The Magnificent Trufflepigs.

Coming to Steam on June 3rd (and Epic some metre later), Trufflepigs is a relaxed first-person romance debut debut for Crawshaw's new studio, Thunkd. Like a cosy William Ashley Sunday drama, the game follows leading man Adam as he returns to his hometown and helps his puerility friend Beth hunt down a long-term-lost treasure.

What this means is you'll exist doing plenty of metal detecting, "meditatively exploring" the fields with your mammoth metal sleuthing bond to discover and dig up a unharmed lotta trash (and the occasional prize). In a nod to Firewatch, you'll be whiling away the hours chatting to Beth happening your walkie-talkie, sending her pics of the episodic find.

It all sounds profoundly twee, but the game's store page threatens to uncover cracks in Beth and X's perfect summer. In classical Hallmark movie fashion, there's a grand unfaltering ready to tear dejected the farm, though it also appears Beth may have buried much just missing jewellery.

"The Magnificent Trufflepigs is a game about trying to find something, and the tone information technology sets is like a emblematic West Germanic language summer: mostly pleasant, just with stormy moments that threaten to ruining everything."

I suppose information technology's for the best Crawshaw wasn't gunning for a Scottish summer, really. Dingy times all around up here.
